Yesterday, we washed. If the man in your life did it — morning and night, a real face wash instead of whatever sat by the sink — his skin already feels cleaner. Today, on day two of our MK Men week, we add the step most guys skip: moisturizer.
And I understand why he skips it. Ask a man why he does not moisturize, and you will usually hear one of two things. Either every moisturizer he has ever tried felt greasy, heavy, or shiny — or he assumes his skin does not need one. Fall is the season that proves him wrong on both counts.
When the heat kicks on, indoor air gets dry, and dry air pulls moisture out of skin all day. The result is the classic fall complaint: skin that feels tight after washing, rough around the jaw, dull by afternoon — and sometimes shinier, because skin overproduces oil to compensate. A lightweight summer routine, or no routine at all, simply does not hold up against heater air.
What the moisturizer does
MKMen Ultimate Moisturizer is a lightweight, nongreasy moisturizer made for men's skin, and it is built around one promise: hydration that lasts. It provides immediate hydration and boosts it for 12 hours, so when he uses it twice a day — morning and night — his skin can stay hydrated around the clock. That claim comes from an independent third-party clinical study in which 30 panelists wore the product for 12 hours.
The formula works with humectants that draw moisture in and hold it there: betaine and glycerin, plus an amino acid blend that helps the outermost layers of skin stay hydrated despite the elements. It also carries resveratrol, an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals, and plankton extract, a soothing ingredient. In an independent study of 205 men who used it at least once a day for three weeks, 93% said skin felt smooth, 90% said it moisturized without making skin look oily, 88% said skin felt nourished, and 81% said skin looked healthier.
Just as important is what it is not. It is oil-free, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist-tested, and it absorbs without that heavy, shiny finish men hate. If his objection to moisturizer has always been "it makes me look greasy," this is the answer to that objection — moisture his skin can feel, without the look he was avoiding.
How to use it
This takes about thirty seconds, which is the whole point of a routine for him. After cleansing — and after shaving, when he shaves — he applies a small amount to his face and neck, morning and night. In the morning, it goes on before sunscreen, which is step three and the subject of tomorrow's brief. At night, it is the last step before bed, sealing in the day's clean skin while he sleeps.
If he shaves, this step earns its place twice over: shaving removes surface oils and can leave skin tight, and a soothing moisturizer right after is exactly what that skin is asking for. A small amount, spread evenly, morning and night, is enough — simple is what he will actually do.
Who it is for
Almost every man you know, but especially three types: the man who has never moisturized and thinks his skin is "fine"; the man who tried one once, hated the grease, and quit; and the man who shaves daily and lives with that tight, post-shave feeling.
Ladies, most of my audience is women, and you are the ones doing the shopping. Pair yesterday's $20 wash with today's $30 moisturizer, and you have a $50 gift set covering steps one and two — useful, simple, used every single day. Add a note — "wash, moisturize, protect, I have the rest covered" — and tomorrow's brief gives you step three to complete it.
Why step two matters more than you think
Here is the quiet truth: the wash only works if what follows it works. Clean skin with nothing to hold its moisture just dries out again, especially in fall. Moisturizer locks in the good work of the wash. Skip it, and the whole routine feels like it is not doing anything — which is exactly how men decide skincare is not for them.
So here is my challenge for this week: wash, then moisturize, morning and night, for one week. Notice how his skin feels at three in the afternoon — not tight, not greasy, just comfortable. Then come back tomorrow, when we add step three: protection.
